The kids went off to school with their arms full of cards for their class mates and Eid gifts for their teachers, and came back with smiles and some Eid goodies from other students!
We also had a few lovely comments from their teachers AND classmates who thanked us for the cards and wished us Eid Mubarak 🙂
The next day, my son came home with a card his (non-Muslim) friend had made for him! It truly is amazing how a little gesture can go a long way…
And to finally wrap up the buloogh series (she says!), how about these Buzz cards?
They each have a poem inside 🙂
Here is an example:
“Now that you are finally nine,
Life’s going to get even more divine!
Ready for the journey ahead, shiny and bright?
Responsibilities await but opportunities too…
Fasten your seat belt and hold on tight,
God’s gifts and blessings are waiting for you!”
So this one is not just for children (husbands pay attention!) but as you can see from the pic, is SO thoughtful coming from a son/daughter!
On Eid day here in Stanmore, they have started a tradition of selling roses to those who attend Eid namaaz – all profits go to charity.
This year they offered a personal touch by including the option of buying a Buzz Ideazz card too!
With only 500 roses and 200 cards, they managed to raise £2500 which I think is pretty amazing! Definitely an idea for other communities to implement Inshallah?
We’re slightly behind schedule but catching up today! Ready to go give our neighbours their Eidi!
Would love to see your neighbour pics and also hear about their reactions – do send them in 🙂
Following the success of the unique Interfaith Christmas Card project to the neighbours of our centres (see link below), Alhamdulillah Buzz Ideazz have worked with several centres around London to do the same this Eid!
Yesterday, Hyderi Centre in South distributed 100 of our Neighbour Eid Cardzz tho those living in the vicinity of their mosque. Here is the synopsis:
“Further to this afternoon’s Neighbourhood Club initiative, Alhumdulillah the distribution was completed successfully to 100 of Hyderi’s neighbours. We thank you all very much & esp the members of Hyderi who generously gave up their time despite fasting on this sunny day to personally invite our neighbours. Chocolate boxes, Eid cards & the personal invitation to the Interfaith program tomorrow were v.well received Mashallah.
However noise & talking outside houses late at night was highlighted as an issue that needs to be addressed, with 1 neighbour having to move bedrooms as the noise was very disturbing. Let us please remember to lower our voices & be considerate of neighbours at all times iA.
Insha’Allah we will continue with this Neighborhood Club initiative, continue to hear their thoughts & concerns & make positive changes to foster our relationship with our neighbours for Imam Sajjad a.s explains they have rights on us, we all must fulfill inshAllah. The smile of appreciation from our neighbours was priceless though. May it continue all year long iA.”

P.S. Alhamdulillah, another initiative we have undertaken this Ramadan is to join forces with Stanmore Jaffery’s to help raise money for Ramadhan Relief…
Buy our unique neighbour cards from Stanmore Jaffery’s over this next week and do a two-in-one: spread the love to your Muslim and non-Muslim neighbours AND raise money for a good cause at the same time!
It’s a win-win 🙂
Idea No 10: Reconnect with and share the message of Hussain (as) with the neighbours of our Islamic Centres!
One of the ideazz during the ten days of Muharram was to share the message of Hussain (as) with our neighbours. In line with the ideazz during these ten days of ‘group’ activities, this is a phenomenal initiative to now reach out to our local centre’s neighbours.
Just before the commencement of Ashra-e-Zainabiyya, the Hyderi Centre in South London, UK and Stanmore Centre in North West London, UK did exactly that!
In Stanmore, a group of 11 people (including two children) got together and knocked on 200 doors to give them a gift bag including:
1. A Who is Hussain Card (www.whoishussain.org)
2. A Buzz Christmas Card
3. A special message inserted inside the card to apologise for any inconvenience we may cause them throughout the year
4. A small box of chocolates
Although mixed feedback was received, overall the neighbours deeply deeply appreciated the gesture and even gave a gift back in some instances 🙂
Some of the mixed feedback included:
1. You have been great neighbours.
2. The foot flow makes us feel safe.
3. Haven’t really noticed any inconvenience.
4. Please be more considerate when parking and don’t damage the grass area.
5. Next morning, there is a lot of litter of Styrofoam cups left lying around 🙁
Overall – it was a very positive fulfilling experience for those involved.
If any other centres have done something similar, please do share!
For those centres that want to reach out, this can still be done by replacing the Interfaith Christmas card with a New Year’s card and putting an additional insert that was used for Stanmore (this can be emailed to you – please feel free to get in touch).
Alhamd, ’tis all we have left folks! Quick, one more day till Christmas 😉
To those of you who were asking about them today, have inboxed you 🙂
P.S. On another note, as we have now begun Ashra-e-Zainabiyya, we will be focusing on our next lot of ideas over the next few days from tomorrow, Inshallah. During the ten days we talked about what we can do to commemmorate at home and with our individual families, and Insh we will now focus on ideas to commemmorate collectively. Please do send in your ideazz!
Just wanted to share a beautiful 5 minute clip of the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a very moving speech at an Interfaith Service on Sunday in Connecticut attended by President Obama: http://www.youtube.com/embed/oHvYZeUV9EE
For those of you who still want to reach out to your friends, colleagues, teachers, police station, fire service, local hospital and doctor’s surgeries, libraries and many more from the other faith, we yesterday received our final batches of the Interfaith Christmas
From the 1,300 we ordered – we now only have left the following, thanks to the amazing response we have had from everywhere:
(i) 90 – A6 cards
(ii) 16 packs – A7 mini cards (160 cards).
Postman Pat sending a post out today (3pm), tomorrow, and a final post going out on Thursday!
600 cards arrived – 600 cards all GONE! (Don’t worry if you haven’t ordered yours yet – we have re-ordered some!)
Alhamdulillah, we have had a fantastic response to the Christmas Cards with a twist!
There are some phenomenal initiatives taking place: Stanmore Jafferys & Hyderi Centers are both doing lovely gift bags to all the neighbours around the area: A box of chocolates, a WIH card and a Buzz Christmas card to apologise for the inconvenience we put them through during the year, and thank them for their understanding.
Wouldn’t it be great to get all our centers around the country to reach out to our neighbours and wish them a lovely break? So if there is anyone who is part of a youth group, committee etc… look forward to your orders and will get them shipped out asap!
P.S. Will post more details later on the neighbour initiative as Stanmore Jafferys are looking for families to knock on the door to hand out the gift bags!
Alhamdulillah, have started to dispatch people’s orders – some by hand, some by post, some by messenger 😉
Do tell us what you think when you receive yours!
